Italy Independence Day
Italy celebrated her independence day as a republic on 02 June 1946 and congratulations to them on their 62nd national day.
Some may be wondering why such a random post from out of the blue? Actually, if you seriously think about it, there is a lot of Italian in our everyday lives.
- For a start, there are Gucci, Ferrangamo and Prada that represents the epitome of fashion luxuries, sharing the limelight with their French counterparts like Dior, Chanel and Vuitton.
Even the recent moronic bigot Frangrance Prince was gushing about men in Milan all being exquisitely well dress (yeah... even the vagabonds and destitude..... Like I said, moron.) in his recent racist blog entry. - We have always been admirers of German technology like BMW, Mercedes Benz and Porsche but for some strange reason, it's the Italian makes like Lambourghini, Ferrari and Maserati that are the ones that really take our breaths away. All the stylish designs are mostly the masterpiece works of Italian designer Pininfarina.
- Then there is food where as far as European cuisine is concerned, Italian is easily the most popular. Heck, if I were to ask you to name 5 European cuisine that you have dined before, I'd bet Italian would easily be in the top 2.*
* Try to name 5 European cuisines that you have tried and you'd be surprised how many of you can't count up to 5. And no. Ikea Swedish meatballs don't count. - And there is football where the Italians are the style-meisters of the northern hemisphere with the Brazilian ruling the south.
Ok, this is not meant to be a teenage-girl gush over them. Just that when I read the paper (which are always a day old since they are delivered over from Hong Kong) and I found out about their national day, it just dawned on me how familiar we are with their exports.
The 4 points that I brought up are perhaps one of the many exports that has gained worldwide recognition and that certainly is a remarkable achievement.
It makes me wonder what Singapore have to show for in return?

Singapore has nothing to show. that the truth. they have to rely on free
trade agreements to lower the tariffs in order to bring those fashion
items, food and cars. the only thing that Singapore can show is Creative
lor.

THB: We used to mock ourselves as the Ugly Singaporean whenever we
meet the likes of us on our travels. Truth to be told, this is the same
across the world. It is in the human DNA to have that one cell dedicated
specially to KPKB. There is no hope for the human race.

Spiller: Tiger is the flagship brand of Asia-Pacific Breweries which
is a Singapore Listed company. I doubt if the Gahmen would allow it to fall
to foreign hands.
